Our Team

We have over 30 years of experience in design – build HVAC systems. On the EHC staff is a Licensed Professional Engineer who is also a credentialed LEED AP. We also have certified Test & Balance personnel as well. Our fabrication shop can rapidly fabricate the sheet metal parts needed to install most duct systems. Both principals, John & Aaron, have done extensive training to the industry.

Aaron Sedine, PE – President

Aaron is EHC’s president and began with EHC in 1994 and became owner November 2017:

  • Worked part time in the sheet metal fabrication shop and then installing ductwork and equipment in new construction projects.
  • Earned his BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) from Grand Valley State University in 1998. Began working full time at that time.
  • Is licensed in Michigan as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Holds a Michigan Mechanical License and a Michigan Boiler License
  • Holds mechanical licenses in Ohio and Indiana as well as in Michigan
  • Is a LEED A.P.
  • Is a RESNET HERS Rater
  • Has attended numerous HVAC/R classes as well as air and water balancing classes.
  • Teaches HVAC installation and service classes as well as WrightSoft HVAC design software classes.
  • Full member of ASHRAE
  • Past President of the West Michigan Chapter ACCA
  • Is a certified Open Water Scuba Diver
  • Holds a Private Pilot License with tailwheel endorsement and Seaplane and IFR certifications. One of the many airplanes he flies is an experimental PA-18 which he built
  • Holds an Amateur Radio License with callsign KD8ZWC
  • Is NASAR Certified (National Association for Search and Rescue
  • Past member of the Kent County Search and Rescue Team

John Sedine, Consulting Engineer

Project manager at the company he joined 42 years ago (1978) – as its first full-time employee. Bought the company in 1994 and subsequently sold it in 2017 to his son Aaron, its current President and owner.

  • Extensive HVAC knowledge, experience and expertise, from fabrication and installation to system design and project management

A prominent figure within the HVAC industry:

  • Former President, Treasurer and Vice President of Education, Michigan Chapter of Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). Sat on numerous committees.
  • Served on ACCA’s National Board of Directors and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2010-2011. Chaired numerous committees and played a key role in ACCA’s manual and technical development programs. Was part of the Standards Task Team which led ACCA’s efforts to become an ANSI accredited standards developer and obtained ANSI approval for a number of ACCA’s technical manuals and standards.
  • Appointed to Michigan Board of Mechanical Rules by Governor Engler and sat on the board for 8 years. This board has oversight of contractor and inspector licensing, review and implementation of the State of Michigan’s Mechanical Codes, and hears disputes between inspectors, contractors, and building owners over mechanical code enforcement.
  • Member, ICC (International Code Council) and sat on the International Mechanical Code Development Committee for 2 code cycles. Currently a member of the ICC Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, and Swimming Pool Membership Council.
  • IAPMO, Sat on the Uniform Mechanical Code Technical Committee for 2 code cycles.
  • Past Chairman, Coalition for the Advancement of Fuel Cell Research and Implementation
  • Member, Mechanical Inspectors Association of Michigan since 1988. Sat on their Board of Directors for 8 years.
  • Member, ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers), Sits on 183P Commercial Building Loads Committee.
  • B.S. Degree in Science Education, Ferris State University
  • Foster Parent for 23 years and has fostered over 160 children.
  • Holds a Private Pilot License
  • Amateur Radio Operator and holds Advanced Class FCC license with callsign KC8NF. Belongs to the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL). Has taught amateur radio theory and Morse code.

Teaches and proctors a broad range of subjects, including:

  • ACCA Manuals J, S, T, and D (ACCA Certified)
  • International Mechanical, Residential and Fuel Gas Codes
  • EPA 608 and 609 refrigerant recovery
  • Wrightsoft HVAC design software
  • Scuba diving instructor with Scuba Schools International. Is a Divecon instructor and teaches Nitrox diving, navigation, and search and rescue.

Dan Sedine, Project Manager

Dan joined EHC in 1993:

  • Started in 1993 as summer help in fabrication shop
  • Attended HVACR program at Ferris State University
  • Full time employee in 1996 working in fabrication shop and installing ductwork and equipment
  • Attended numerous HVAC classes for service and installation including NATE and NCI residential and commercial air balance
  • Over 26 years of experience working in the HVAC industry from multi-family residential to commercial/industrial installation and project managing
  • Enjoys hunting, fishing, trap and skeet shooting, and sporting clays

Mike Schultz, Project Manager

Mike joined EHC in 1998:

  • Started working in the sheet metal shop as a parts fabricator
  • Worked his way up to head parts lay out then Shop Foreman
  • Advanced to Shop manager which entailed over sight of parts fabrication, ordering purchase parts, managing warehouse, and scheduling deliveries
  • Moved to an open Service and Equipment Start up position and later to Service Manager
  • NATE certified in a number of categories
  • NCI certified in residential and commercial air balance. Performs air balancing, duct leakage testing, and blower door testing
  • Currently works as a Project Manager on various new construction project. Also does bidding, equipment procurement, safety training, and over sees the service and start up department.
  • Mike is an avid upland bird hunter, enjoys family camping, and is an off road Jeep enthusiast

Tim Engelsma, Residential Manager

Tim Engelsma – Previous owner of Engelsma Heating

  • Has worked in the HVAC industry since 2000
  • Previous experience includes residential and commercial HVAC sales, service, and installation. Also has extensive control and automation experience including low voltage, line voltage, pneumatic, Smart relays, and PLC programming. Also has built, installed, and serviced custom refrigeration systems.
  • Holds a Universal refrigeration certificate
  • Has attended numerous HVAC service, duct sizing and sales classes
  • Holds a Private Pilot License with high performance and complex endorsements. Currently flies a Beechcraft Debonair.
